 | Derrick and I have been together for quite some time now. We started hanging out sometime in October of 2010 during our senior year of high school. We volunteered to help with traffic for a festival Howell holds every year for Halloween called the Legend of Sleepy Howell (haha get it?). We got to wear traffic vests and we joked we were going to run away with them (no, we didn't).
Anyways, he invited me to a movie with his friends after and I chickened out and did not go. I decided he was kind of cute and wanted to get to know him more so one of my best friends, Katelyn, invited him over for one of our weekly movie nights we would have in her basement at her house. Bold move, Katelyn but no worries, it worked. We started hanging out more and than November 5th, 2010 came upon us.
The date is easy to remember because it was our first kiss which is seriously story book. When I tell the story it sounds like a movie. I'm not kidding. But we began dating officially on November 12, 2010 the day before his regional final football game and yes, I was cheesy. I did draw his number 7 on my cheek outlined by eyeliner thanks to my artistic best friend. I know, but come on we were in high school and that's what high school girls did in my high school. Unfortunately, they did not win that game and yes, he is still VERY salty about it. But nonetheless we moved on together.
So, here we are 5 years later on September 19, 2015. He proposes. He was not very subtle about it haha we were driving back from a movie and he drives passed my house. I ask him where we were going and he doesn't have an answer. LOL. We drive down to the lake and start walking along the path and BAM. When we told my mom she cried and asked why lol. Seriously, she responded, "why?" in tears but fast foward to now and WE ARE GETTING MARRIED!! And we couldn't be more excited. |
