Excursion: 2 Stop Stingray City & Snorkel in Grand Cayman

No visit to Grand Cayman is complete without a visit to the famous Stingray City sandbar to interact with the friendly stingrays. Fortunately for you, this trip is provided by the company who "discovered" Stingray City. Perhaps the original owner will even be on board during your tour. Although he is now retired, he still loves to get on the boat, interact with the guests, and relate stories of what life was like in Cayman's earlier days.You'll board a cabin cruiser for this two-hour trip, which includes a stop at the Stingray City sandbar for interacting with the stingrays in waist-deep water. You can enjoy having the stingrays swim around you or you can snorkel and get a little more up close and personal. Food for the stingrays is provided so you can experience the feeling of them grabbing the goodies with their mouths on the underside of their body as they swim over your hand.The second stop is the incredible Barrier Reef, where you may see nurse sharks and moray eels or the gorgeous Coral Gardens, known for thousands of colorful fish. Your guide will determine the location based on the day's water conditions. You'll have approximately 30 minutes of snorkel time at each stop. Your captain will determine the order of the snorkel stops.Ice water and fruit punch are provided on the boat.

Your tour begins with a spirited one-hour sail from Key West’s Historic Seaport to the living reef, which is protected by the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. As we near the reef, our experienced crew will provide a professional safety and instruction course on snorkeling, and then it's time to hit the tranquil, clear water! As you explore the reef’s magnificent underwater world, keep an eye out for the many fish, coral, and marine wildlife that call it home.You'll have plenty of time, about an hour or so, to snorkel these very active waters. First-timers will appreciate the great guidance they'll receive on this tour. After snorkeling, and washing off the salt in our freshwater shower, feel free to relax in the sun or grab a seat in the shade under our covered deck.During the return sail, enjoy cold soft drinks and filtered water, as well as complimentary beer and wine, as you take in the incredible views on the way back to shore.

This tour begins with a bang as our first stop is a local tequilera. You'll learn how this distinctly Mexican spirit is distilled and the various nuances which contribute to different tastes, aromas, and colors. We'll sample just a taste or two so you're still in great condition to continue the tour.Heading east, we stop to admire the beautiful beaches of San Martin, with soft white sand, and brilliant blue water. Your guide will inform you about the sea turtle nests and hatching that takes place in this pristine area.Back on the road, we drive the island's winding roads through dense forests and lush vegetation and soon arrive at the historic town of El Cedral, home to the oldest Mayan Ruins on Cozumel. Your guide's narration will make history come alive as you hear about this former center of Mayan life. It's now time for some serious fun as our off-road adventure heats up. We'll bump and bounce our way deep into the jungle, through lush vegetation to the hidden Jade Cavern and Cenote, a place sacred to the Mayans. It's a bit of a hike to the Cavern on a rugged trail, making the cool, jade-colored waters all the more refreshing when you take the plunge. As you swim, enjoy the stalactites overhead, adding to the unique ambiance of this special place.From here we cruise to a great beach club (beach chair included) for some sustenance following our active tour. You'll have your choice of several Mexican lunch options, including fajitas, quesadillas or nachos. At this point, you might want to relax and catch some rays on the soft white sand. But for those looking for a bit more action, dive in to see what's happening underwater. Your guide will provide all the snorkel gear you'll need, mask, fins, snorkel, and flotation devices, as well as instructions for anyone new to this enjoyable activity. Just offshore lies the protected Chankanaab Reef system, with warm, shallow water that is home to abundant tropical fish and a coral fan garden.
