Paul and I went to Heritage Park today to work on the layout.  It is encouraging to be reminded about how much space we have to fit everything.  

I was standing in the middle of the grass taking a few photos of the gazebo and there were at least seven hummingbirds flying around.  One came really close to landing on my shoulder.  It was so cool.  I asked them if they could come back on July 3rd in the afternoon.  I'm not sure if they will, but it sure would be wonderful.  I tried to get pictures of them but they are too small and too fast.

The countdown continues...  Just about 6 weeks  :)

 

Invitations are in the mail!  Actually, one got delivered to our house yesterday instead of the person it was addressed to. It must have flipped in the machine and they directed it to the return label.  Silly post office.

Also, I addressed many of the invitations more formally (Mr. and Mrs.) but then didn't use an inside envelope to specify guests.  

It is a family party - all are invited.  

7 weeks!  We're getting excited.  Can't wait to see everyone.  Hopefully, the weather will be nice.  None of this crazy hot stuff.

My biggest concern (right now) is the parking. Under normal circumstances there is adequate parking, but it will be summer.  There is a lot at the park that will be reserved.  There is also the large lot just west of the park along with street parking.  Depending on availability, we may have someone shuttling guests.  The loading zone adjacent to the park will also be used for a passenger zone.

I'll post any updates if we make additional arrangements.

 

We were at the County Clerk's office today.  Don't worry, we didn't get married without you.  I was suprised at how many couples were there on a Monday not just getting their license, but getting married.  I think it must of been the date 4-14-14.  Yes, it was tempting.  :)

A wedding date with all those 4s would be fun but even better, is the thought of a wedding with all our friends and family.  It's going to be wonderful   and Big!  The number keeps growing, eek!  Good thing our venue is a large open space.

The invitations are being printed and some of the smaller accessories are being purchased.  

We found some great ties for the guys.  Girl dresses are next! 

Wowie!  Just over three months until the wedding.  I know it will go quickly so I thought I should try to put things in writing and give us something to look back on.

My bridesmaid, Cathy, gave me a planning book this week.  According to the lists, most of the plans are going along well, although I read today that I should be addressing the invitations.  Ha!  Glenda and I haven't finalized the design, let alone, started producing them.  Of course, we'll get it done.  We always do.  I have a great group helping me out.  

I have a dress and a location.  What else do we need?!  Oh yeah, a cake!! Me, the dessert queen, cannot decide on a bakery.  I need someone who will provide a delicious cake but also some other sweet alternatives.  A fabulous table filled with yummy treats is at the top of my wants.

The girls need dresses too.  Toria is at sixth grade camp this week.  Fun! Fun! But spring break is next week so we'll have some time to shop. Finding beautiful blue dresses that a 14 and 11 year old think are flattering can't be that hard. Yeah right... I probably should have started last year.

 

 

 

Paul and I took engagement photos on Tuesday.  The weather was a little questionable during the day but turned out perfect.  We met our photographer, Ken Jacques - a long time family friend, in Coronado and the girls joined us.  It was a blast.  Of course, I had the ever present photo taking dilema of do I smile or try to keep my eyes open.  I think there might be a few that capture both.  We haven't seen all the photos but we did get a sneak preview.  They are very nice.  Some fun ones with the girls.  It was very representative of what we want for our wedding - warm, special and lots of laughing.
